Most Efficient Building Award by Ministry of Trade and Industry, Vietnam

Saigon Centre has been named one of the most eco-friendly developments, having been named the Most Energy Efficient Building (1st Runner-Up) by Vietnam’s Ministry of Trade & Industry. The premier development employs a host of energy conservation features including energy-saving air conditioning, lighting and lift systems.

BCA Green Mark Awards

The Green Mark Award scheme operated by Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) rates buildings for their environmental impact and performance. It takes into account energy and water efficiency, indoor environment quality, building management and environmental innovation, and serves as a benchmark which incorporates internationally-recognised best practices in environmental design and performance.

Since the introduction of the BCA Green Mark Awards in 2005, Keppel Land has attained 5 accolades, including the highest Green Mark Platinum for Ocean Financial Centre. The Green Mark Platinum is awarded to exemplary green projects that demonstrate 30% energy and water savings, as well as environmentally sustainable building practices and innovative green features.

Ocean Financial Centre - Green Mark Platinum (2008)

Ocean Financial Centre (OFC) is the first office development in Singapore’s CBD to be conferred the highest Platinum Green Mark Award.

OFC through its green features will see an overall energy savings of 35% or $1,817,000 annually.

OFC’s Green Features

Innovative green technology and immense efforts have gone into developing OFC as a sustainable building.

  • Use of glass with state-of-the-art low emissive coating to maximise light transmittance and transparency while minimising heat gain

  • Eco-technology features including a roof photovoltaic system which consists of a 400 sqm solar panel array and an energy-efficient hybrid-chilled water system. Coupled with efficient lighting panels and air conditioning, the solar paneled array will save nine megawatt hours per year. This is enough to power a 50,000 sqm office space

  • Eco-office switch to provide temperature and lighting control programme for tenants to reduce energy consumption during off-peak hours

  • Lifts that utilise regenerative drive system to reduce energy consumption

  • Efficient irrigation and landscaping choices, such as a rain water harvesting system for irrigation and a cooling tower system which uses recycled water, will help to save 42 million litres of water annually which fills 21 Olympic sized swimming pools

  • An integrated paper recycling facility for offices to recycle paper waste, complete with a paper shredder for disposing confidential documents. This in-house chute concept will help to save more than 10,000 trees annually

  • Beyond aesthetics, extensive vertical greening, in the form of a green wall with the roof top gardens increase the green plot ratio without consuming valuable office space while improving air quality

Highest Platimum Green Mark Award for OFC affirms Keppel Land's commitment to world-class, subtainable developments.
  • Recycling efforts include use of materials such as plywood and timber from the torn down Ocean Building for use in the construction of the new building

  • Several trees from the former Ocean Building have either been retained or transplanted while horticulture recycled waste is used for compost as well

  • To further encourage tenants to take on green practices, there are plans to produce a "green book" listing to showcase the green features and eco-technology available at 0FC
Reflections at Keppel Bay - Green Mark Gold (2008)

Reflections at Keppel Bay was awarded the Green Mark Gold Award in 2008. The premier development incorporates green and energy-saving features such as the provision of motion sensors at lift lobbies and clubhouse toilets, pneumatic waste collection system as well as green roofs and green walls at the substation and tennis courts.

Marina Bay Financial Centre - Green Mark Gold (2008)

Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) Phase 1 (Commercial) achieved the Green Mark Gold Award in 2008. This follows a similar award for Marina Bay Residences, also within the development, in 2007.

MBFC incorporates the District Cooling System for the entire area, making more efficient use of precious water and power resources, thus enhancing the green credentials of the tenants as well as improving the quality of the indoor environment.

Apart from a host of energy conservation features including an energy efficient glass curtain cladding system and energy-saving air-conditioning, lighting and lift systems, more than 35% of the total land area will be landscaped, creating relaxing surroundings for tenants and cooling the urban environment.

Marina Bay Residences - Green Mark Gold (2007)

Keppel Land’s luxury apartment development, the Marina Bay Residences (MBR) was awarded the Green Mark Gold Award in 2007.

Energy-saving features incorporated at MBR include heat reducing glass, highly efficient but low-power consumption lifts and a sensor-driven venting system in the carpark. These features are expected to achieve annual savings of about $0.5 million.

In addition, an extensive covered walkway and pedestrian network links the entire Marina Bay Financial Centre and the Mass Rapid Transit, encouraging MBR residents to utilise public transport.

The Tresor - Green Mark Gold (2006)

Keppel Land’s The Tresor condominium project at Duchess Road was awarded the Green Mark Gold Award in 2006. Completed in November 2007, the development incorporates green features such as a waterless urinal at the clubhouse toilet, solar-powered lights and the use of recycled plastic for children’s playground equipment.

ACCA Singapore Environmental and Social Reporting Awards (SESRA)

Keppel Land embraces environmental and social performance transparency. The Company emerged as a finalist in the Singapore Environmental and Social Reporting Awards (SESRA) organised by the Association for Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2005, 2007 and 2008.

SESRA recognises companies that display an exceptional effort in reporting their non-financial disclosures to their stakeholders. It aims to promote good corporate citizenship and encourage companies to be more accountable for the social, environmental and economic impact on their activities.

Marina at Keppel Bay - Clean Marina Award

Marina at Keppel Bay has achieved the Clean Marina Award from the Marina Industries Association of Australia.

Marina at Keppel Bay is the first and only marina in Asia to be awarded a ‘Clean Marina’ status under the Clean Marinas Australia Programme, a voluntary accreditation system to promote clean environmental practices in the marina industry business.

Caribbean at Keppel Bay - Landscape Industry Association of Singapore (LIAS) Awards of Excellence 2006

Keppel Land's luxury waterfront condominium, Caribbean at Keppel Bay, which is home to some 2,200 shrubs and 800 trees, was bestowed two awards in the Landscape Industry Association (Singapore) Awards of Excellence 2006. It received the Gold Award in the Implementation - Residential category for the quality of plant materials used, installation techniques and craftsmanship. It also bagged the Silver Award in the Maintenance - Residential category for the condition of the plants and cleanliness of the site.

"Best in Class" Status, Environmental and Social Performance - Storebrand SRI 2005

Keppel Land attained "Best in Class" status in 2005 by leading Scandinavian financial institution Storebrand for leading environmental and social performance.

Storebrand is a pioneer in the assessment of corporate responsibility of investment targets and one of the leading Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) companies in the world. It gives the 'Best in Class' recognition as a sign of social qualification to companies it has found in its analyses to be investment targets that best bear their environmental and social responsibility. The recipients qualify as Storebrand's SRI investment targets.
