Milestones 2002
JULY
- The Company reported at its half-year financial results, a 6.6% increase in property trading sales, despite a
weak property market.
- Keppel Land through associate company, Dragon Land, made further inroads into China via an agreement
with a Chinese partner, to develop a 85-ha site in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province into a new residential and golf course
development.
AUGUST
- Philippines President HE Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo officially opened The Podium retail mall in Manila.
- Sedona Hotel Yangon was the official venue for the Myanmar-Malaysia Technology Conference on Business
Opportunities and Technology Collaboration, graced by Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of
Malaysia.
- BG George Yeo, Minister for Trade and Industry, officially opened Ocean Towers in Shanghai. The occasion
also marked the launch of 'Singapore Centre', an IE Singapore initiative, in the building.
SEPTEMBER
- Temasek Holdings Chairman Mr S Dhanabalan, together with the Temasek Holdings Board of Directors, were
in Shanghai to unveil Park Avenue's master plan. This development by Keppel Land is the largest upmarket
residential project by a foreign developer in Jingan District, Shanghai.
- The Company was runner-up in the property category of the 'Most Transparent Company Awards 2002' for
the third year in a row. The awards competition was organised by Securities Investors Association (Singapore).
- Parco Bugis Junction welcomed HRH Prince Ata, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Tonga during his trip here
to study the Singapore model for the betterment of Tonga's trade, tourism and economic development.
- Tapping into Ho Chi Minh City's growing residential market, Keppel Land acquired a 5.9-ha prime residential
site to develop quality villas for sale.
NOVEMBER
- The launch of 504 units of One Park Avenue, Keppel Land's luxury condominium development in Jingan,
Shanghai received overwhelming response from buyers.
- Keppel Land's Board of Directors was further strengthened with the appointment of a notable lawyer,
Mrs Lee Ai Ming, who is also the deputy managing partner at Rodyk & Davidson.
- In line with the Company's divestment strategy, Keppel Land entered into a conditional agreement to sell its
70% interest in Capital Square.
- PARCO Bugis Junction jointly launched Singapore's first mall-wide credit card, the Bugis Junction JCB card,
with JCB Singapore and United Overseas Bank.
- Keppel Land took another significant stride into China's housing market with the acquisition of
a 4.2-ha residential site in Chengdu.
DECEMBER
- Sedona Suites Hanoi was awarded the Golden Quality Award 2002 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Science
Technology and Environment.
- The Company completed the sale of its 70% interest in Capital Square.
