The Group’s first major acquisition in China was
in late-2000 when it bought a 9.6-ha site in the
Jingan district of Shanghai for the development
of a 3,058-unit upmarket condominium project.
In 2002, Keppel Land bought several more
residential sites in China, Thailand and Vietnam.
Elsewhere in Asia, Keppel Land will continue to
monitor markets for opportunities. At present,
the Group has a 15-year option to develop
a 600-ha residential township called Metro North
Township in Metro Manila, Philippines and two
on-going township projects in Malaysia.
Keppel Land places emphasis in product
differentiation in terms of quality, design,
innovation and packaging as well as sensitivity to
local market conditions, buyers’ preferences and
taboos in order to gain dominance and recognition
as a preferred developer of choice.
